My passion for music began with my parents, both of whom were professional singers. When I was six years old, I became my father’s tape-machine operator, recording him on the Webcor recorder he purchased in 1955.
From the ages of 12 to 20, I played drums in groups on Long Island and in Manhattan. Before long, I realized that my true calling was behind the scenes—capturing musicians and preserving their performances.
My family’s Lower East Side tenement building, which had been in the family for four generations, taught me valuable skills in construction and repair. I transformed part of that space into my first recording room.
In 1972, I founded East Side Sound. Since then, I have devoted my life to recording, mixing, and helping artists bring their music to life.
East Side Sound combines a Harrison 32Classic console, Pro Tools, vintage tube and solid-state equipment, an extensive microphone collection, and two-inch analog tape capability—the best of the classic analog world with modern digital recording.
More than five decades of experience recording jazz, rock, world music, vocalists, ensembles, and projects for picture.
Mixing has always been my passion. I work from original multitrack sessions or supplied stems, combining musical judgment with decades of technical experience.
Detailed digital and analog editing, always performed with respect for the music and the performance.
My staff and I can help prepare, organize, edit, and complete projects from the earliest stages through final delivery.
